Q: Is there a restoration shop near me like GoWesty?
In September of 2011, we stopped all service work and restorations on customer-owned vehicles. Since then, we've been getting the above question quite a bit (and rightfully so). The truth of the matter is that there isn’t another GoWesty-type shop out there currently, although many shops have finally recognized the uniqueness of these vehicles, the loyalty of their owners, and the quality that folks like you expect. More and more, shops across the nation are stepping up to the plate to service these vehicles “holistically,” which is the philosophy we preach. In other words, it doesn’t make sense to slam a freshly rebuilt engine into a van that has major cooling, exhaust, and injection problems—issues that will likely strand the owner somewhere down the road, which just doesn't serve the long-term interests of anybody.
While we don’t directly recommend any particular shops, we do point folks to this very helpful resource: www.roadhaus.com. This site contains a database of customer reviews of nearly every VW Vanagon/Eurovan/Bus shop in the United States. If a shop in your area has generally good reviews, it’s typically safe to assume that they’ll do right by you and your vehicle. Of course, we can set you up with all the parts you’ll need, and we can have everything shipped directly to your shop. We will also work closely with your shop to provide valuable input and advice, as needed.
Our main goal is to help you keep your vehicle on the road for many years to come!
