New Engine Warranty

ENGINE WARRANTY COVERAGE AND LIMITATIONS

STANDARD WARRANTY (NO CHARGE)
Labor Rate / Parts Coverage: The labor rate GoWesty will pay is limited to $60/hour. GoWesty will provide replacements for failed parts at retail price. Both labor and parts coverage are based on a pro-rata determination. The remaining warranty is calculated using the greater of either time or miles since the purchase date. The total number of months elapsed or miles driven will be divided by 48 (months) or 48,000 (miles), respectively, to determine the amount of the warranty that has been "used." For example, if failure occurs at 18 months, during which time the vehicle was driven 32,000 miles, mileage, not time, will be used for the calculation. At 32,000 miles, the warranty coverage "exhausted" is 32,000/48,000, or 2/3rds of original coverage; thus, the warranty will cover only 1/3 of the repair. So, in the context of the above example: If a $100 part fails and takes one hour to replace, your GoWesty warranty will cover 1/3rd the cost of the $100 part and 1/3rd of one $60 warranty hour, which equals roughly $53 of the total warranty repair cost. Subject to compliance with GoWesty warranty requirements (below).

EASY RIDER WARRANTY (ADDITIONAL $250)
Labor Rate / Parts Coverage: 100% of outside labor rate is paid by GoWesty (limited to a maximum of $115/hour) for twelve (12) months or twelve thousand (12,000) miles from date of purchase, whichever comes first. After 12 months/12,000 miles from date of purchase, outside labor rate (limited to a maximum of $115/hour) will be split 50/50 by vehicle owner and GoWesty for remainder of warranty (36 months/36,000 miles, whichever comes first). GoWesty will also provide replacements for failed parts at no cost for twelve (12) months/twelve thousand (12,000) miles from date of purchase, whichever comes first. After 12 months/12,000 miles from date of purchase, GoWesty will provide replacements for failed parts at 50% of retail price for the remainder of warranty (36 months/36,000 miles, whichever comes first). Subject to compliance with GoWesty warranty requirements (below).

ROAD WARRIOR WARRANTY (ADDITIONAL $500)
Labor Rate / Parts Coverage: GoWesty will pay 100% of outside labor rate (limited to $115/hour) and will provide replacements for failed parts at no charge for the duration of the warranty, four (4) years or forty-eight thousand (48,000) miles, whichever comes first, from date of purchase. Subject to compliance with GoWesty warranty requirements (below).

GOWESTY ENGINE WARRANTY REQUIREMENTS

Thank you for purchasing a GoWesty rebuilt engine. First and foremost: If there is ANY problem with your engine upon installation, GoWesty will work diligently directly with the installer to remedy the problem in a fair way at no cost to the owner of the vehicle. Beyond installation, the following warranty will apply only if the included REGISTRATION CARD is filled out and returned to GoWesty within 20 days of installation.

This engine is warranted to be free, under normal use, from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of forty-eight (48) months from date of purchase or forty-eight thousand (48,000) miles, whichever comes first, provided that an oil and filter change has been performed between 900 and 1100 miles after installation, and then every 3,500 miles thereafter. It is the responsibility of the owner to keep proper documentation of oil changes. Warranty is VOID if the odometer is not working properly. Be sure to read the “Exclusions & Limitations” paragraph below.

Exclusions & Limitations: Regardless of the type of warranty coverage you choose (Standard, Easy Rider, or Road Warranty), seals and gaskets are warranted for a period of twelve (12) months or twelve thousand (12,000) miles, whichever comes first. The water pump carries a twelve (12) month or twelve thousand (12,000) mile warranty, whichever comes first—the labor cost to replace it for any reason is not covered by this warranty.

If the engine is not installed at a licensed automotive repair facility (in other words, if it is vehicle owner-installed or "friend"-installed), warranty is VOID unless base-line settings, initial coolant fill and bleed, and initial start-up is done by a licensed automotive repair shop; first (1000 mile) inspection and oil change must also be performed by a professional shop. It is the responsibility of the warranty holder to keep invoices for these charges and to provide copies in the event of a warranty claim. Invoices must provide contact information for the shop that performs the work.

The warranty does not apply to engine failure due to improper installation, overheating, incorrect timing, insufficient oil, contaminated oil, oil additives, outright abuse, etc. Warranty shall not apply to engines installed with non-stock or missing accessories on the engine or vehicle that, in the determination of GoWesty, is/are necessary for proper performance or reliability. Because overheating is caused by improper installation or incorrect adjustment of accessories—which is out of the control of GoWesty—this engine is not warranted against damage resulting from overheating. There are "melt-tabs" installed which will melt if the engine is overheated.

This warranty is limited to repair or replacement of an engine that, after inspection, GoWesty determines is defective. This warranty is VOID if this engine is disassembled prior to warranty claim, unless GoWesty grants prior written approval for tear down. GoWesty does not assume any responsibility for towing charges, oil or coolant loss, or time lost while the vehicle is out of use. The obligations assumed under this warranty are limited to replacement of parts and labor only as provided herein and are in lieu of all other obligations, warranties or guarantees expressed or implied. Any shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT LABOR HOUR DETERMINATION: In the event that GoWesty authorizes another licensed repair facility to perform warranty repairs, the number of labor hours GoWesty authorizes will be determined from the Mitchell Guide only. It is not up to the discretion of the repair facility or technician to determine how long the repair(s) should take.

NOTE: When purchasing a new engine from GoWesty, we always recommend replacing your entire cooling system. You must read the following article: "Cooling System Overhaul." You may choose not to follow our recommendation; however, please understand that if you have an engine failure due to overheating, your warranty is VOID.

NOTE: WARRANTY IS VOID IF THE WARRANTY REGISTRATION CARD IS NOT FILLED OUT AND RETURNED TO GOWESTY WITHIN 20 BUSINESS DAYS AFTER DATE OF ENGINE INSTALLATION.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THE GOWESTY 2.7 ENGINE: The GoWesty 2.7 engine requires the purchase and installation of the GoWesty Engine Management System (GW-EFI), which is equipped with important knock sensor functionality. If you or your shop fail to purchase and install the GW-EFI along with the 2.7 engine, your warranty is VOID.
