Is this relay compatible with my 1985 Vanagon Westfalia Camper?

Yes, this relay is compatible with all 1983 through 1991 Vanagon models, including the Westfalia Camper. It’s designed to replace the original relay for various functions such as the fuel pump and cooling fan.

Can this relay handle the power window function on my Vanagon?

Absolutely! This relay works for the power window system in 1986-1991 Vanagon models, providing reliable operation for your windows without needing a separate relay.

Will installing this replacement relay improve my Vanagon's performance?

While a relay itself doesn't boost performance, replacing a worn or failing relay with this high-quality aftermarket part ensures your fuel pump, cooling fan, or power windows operate smoothly and reliably, which maintains overall vehicle function.

What does 40A SPST mean, and why is that important?

40A SPST stands for 40 Amps, Single-Pole Single-Throw. It means the relay can handle up to 40 amps of current and switches one electrical circuit on or off. This rating matches the original specs for your Vanagon’s relay, ensuring proper electrical function and safety.

Should I buy extra relays to keep as spares?

Many Vanagon owners recommend keeping spare relays on hand because they are essential for critical functions like fuel delivery and cooling. Given the relay’s proven reliability and affordability, having extras is a smart way to avoid unexpected downtime.
