Includes a "locating jam nut" to help you find the perfect sweet spot for your particular needs. This shift lever extension will give you a bit more than a 4" extension, and the bend in it — coupled with the jam nut allows you to position the knob to your liking. 

The extension does add about 20% to the overall length of the shift lever which will naturally increase the already relatively sloppy VW van shifter “feel” by about 20%.
