Long-time friends of GoWesty, and colorful characters of the global overlanding crowd, Ned & Kat Bacon are arguably the most well-seasoned Vanagon Ambassadors out there kicking up dust. They have taken their project "Charlottamiles" to far reaches of the globe via the roads least traveled. Most of the time their routes don't include anything considered roads! From Ushuaia, Argentina to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and damn near everywhere in between, these two push beyond the comforts of traditional life in the pursuit of whatever magic lies around the next bend.
Vehicle: Charlotte
Charlotte is trustworthy old girl. Kicked out of the van barn in 1987 and simply refuses to be put out to pasture. She lived a quiet life out on the East Coast until the Bacons saddled her up and showed her what she was missing, being a Syncro and all. She is provisioned with all the necessary trail goods. Just enough to get anywhere she likes, without carrying surplus junk that would unnecessarily tire her thirty-something year old bones. She does love to stretch her legs on occasion, but suffers from asphalt allergies, thus preferring the slower pace of the old wagen-trails. If you see a little plume of dust out on the horizon, it might just be her.
