Will this gasket fit my 1985 VW Vanagon with a 3-speed automatic transmission?

Yes, this gasket is designed to fit 1976-1991 VW Type 2 Buses and Vanagons equipped with 3-speed automatic transmissions, including 1985 models.

Do I need to buy the transmission filter and screen separately?

Yes, the filter and screen are not included with this gasket and must be purchased as part of a separate kit.

How do I ensure the gasket seats properly to prevent leaks?

Carefully align the gasket evenly around the pan, making sure it sits flat without any twists or folds. Taking your time during installation helps achieve a tight seal and avoid leaks.

Is the differential side gasket included with this purchase?

No, the cork pan gasket for the differential side is sold separately and is not part of this automatic transmission pan gasket.

Should I buy an extra gasket to keep on hand?

It's a good idea to order an extra gasket since this one fits tightly and can be tricky to seat correctly. Having a spare makes future installations easier and saves time.
