Will this Complete Sliding Door Hinge fit my specific Vanagon year?

This hinge assembly fits all 1985-1991 Vanagons and some 1984 models. To ensure it is the correct part for your van, please measure your exterior sliding door handle; if the distance from the middle of the keyhole to the end is 5.75", this is the correct assembly for your vehicle.

Can this hinge help if my sliding door won't latch properly or rattles while driving?

Yes. Customers have reported that replacing a worn hinge can resolve issues where the door pops to the safety notch or rattles on rough roads, providing a more solid feel and proper latching after the door and striker pin are readjusted.

Is it difficult to install this sliding door hinge assembly?

Installation is generally straightforward, though it is recommended to have an extra set of hands to help get the three bolts in during the process. You can also refer to the GoWesty YouTube video on Vanagon sliding door maintenance for a visual guide.

Does this hinge assembly come with the plastic cap for the arm?

The plastic/nylon cap that sits on top of the arm is not included with this hinge assembly, but these caps are available for purchase separately on the site if you wish to have a more finished look.
