Which Vanagon models and years does this crankshaft pulley seal fit?

This crankshaft pulley seal is designed to fit all 1983 through 1991 watercooled 2WD Vanagon models. It's important to note that this seal is NOT compatible with Syncro (4WD) models. It fits various body styles including Weekender, Westfalia Camper, and Multivan.

What brands of crankshaft seals can I expect to receive?

Depending on current stock availability, you will receive either an Elring or a Victor Reinz crankshaft pulley seal. Both are high-quality aftermarket brands known for their reliability in German vehicles.

Can I use this crankshaft seal if my Vanagon is a 1982 model?

No, this specific crankshaft pulley seal is made for Vanagon models from 1983 up to 1991. If you have a 1982 Vanagon, you'll need to check for a different part number as the seals can vary between model years.

Is this crankshaft seal suitable for both manual and automatic transmissions on my 2WD Vanagon?

Yes, this crankshaft pulley seal is compatible with both manual and automatic transmissions for the 1983-1991 2WD Vanagon. It's a standard replacement part for the engine's front seal.

What’s the best way to check if my Vanagon needs a new crankshaft seal?

A common sign that your crankshaft seal might be failing is oil leaking from the front of the engine, often visible around the crankshaft pulley. It's a good idea to inspect the area during regular maintenance or if you notice an oil smell or puddles under your Vanagon.
