What exactly does this front exhaust header support bracket do, and why do I need it for my Vanagon?

This bracket is designed to reduce the vibration that can lead to exhaust failure on your Vanagon's front (cylinder #1 & #3) exhaust header pipe. VW originally used a similar system. This Front Exhaust Header Support Bracket is designed to fit all water-cooled 2WD & 4WD Vanagon models from 1983-1991, specifically when used with a GoWesty stainless exhaust system. It's intended for the 1/3 header pipe closest to the engine firewall. Please note, it does not fit the OEM exhaust.

Installation seems a bit tight. Any tips for installing this bracket with the engine and exhaust already in place?

You're right, access can be tight with the engine and GoWesty stainless exhaust already mounted. The key is patience! Ensure the engine and exhaust are completely cool before you start. I'm looking to reinforce my exhaust. Is this the only bracket you offer, or do you have one for the rear pipes as well?

Ne convient pas aux pots d'échappement OEM.

• À utiliser sur le tuyau collecteur 1/3 le plus proche du pare-feu du moteur.

Remarque d'installation importante : ce produit est un peu difficile à installer avec le moteur et notre système d'échappement en acier inoxydable GoWesty déjà monté. L'accès est étroit, mais l'installation est tout à fait réalisable. Assurez-vous que le moteur et l’échappement sont froids et faites attention à ces jointures !
