Is this Fuel Filler Grommet compatible with my 1981 Vanagon Westfalia Camper?

Yes, this grommet is designed to fit 1980-1983 Vanagon models, including the 1981 Westfalia Camper with a steel filler neck. Just double-check that your filler neck is steel, as this product is specifically made for that type.

How do I know if my Vanagon has a steel or plastic filler neck?

A steel filler neck will be metal and can sometimes show signs of rust or paint, while a plastic filler neck is a smooth, molded plastic piece. This grommet is for steel necks, so if you're unsure, take a close look or consult your Vanagon’s manual to confirm.

What’s the best way to install this grommet to ensure a proper seal?

When installing, make sure the inner lip of the grommet is fully seated in the filler neck hole. Run your fingers around the seal to feel for any bumps or distortions—if you find any, gently adjust the grommet until it sits evenly and snugly for a tight fit.

Will this grommet prevent fuel leaks and keep dirt out effectively?

Yes, when properly installed, this quality aftermarket grommet creates a secure seal around the fuel filler neck, helping prevent fuel leaks and keeping dirt or moisture from entering your fuel system.

Is this part brand new and of good quality?

Absolutely. This Fuel Filler Grommet is a new, quality aftermarket part designed to meet or exceed OEM standards. It offers reliable durability and fitment for your Vanagon’s steel filler neck.
