Will this temperature sensor o-ring fit my Vanagon?

This temperature sensor o-ring is designed specifically for late model, 2WD Vanagons from 1986 to 1991 with the standard cooling system. It does not fit Syncro 4WD models equipped with an aluminum thermostat housing. Always double-check your vehicle's year, model, and whether it’s 2WD before purchasing to ensure proper fitment.

How many temperature sensor o-rings do I need, and should I replace them with every sensor change?

You will need one o-ring per temperature sensor. It's highly recommended to replace the o-ring each time you change the temperature sensor to ensure a tight seal and prevent coolant leaks. Always check if your existing o-ring is worn or cracked, as a fresh o-ring helps maintain the health of your Vanagon’s cooling system.

Why is the temperature sensor o-ring important, and how do I know when I need a new one?

The temperature sensor o-ring creates a watertight seal around the sensor, keeping coolant inside your engine and preventing leaks. If you notice coolant seepage around the sensor or see cracks and hardening on the existing o-ring, it’s time for a replacement. Replacing a worn o-ring helps maintain engine temperature and protects your Vanagon from potential overheating issues.
