Will this oil pressure switch harness fit my 1988 Vanagon Westfalia with a waterboxer engine?

Yes, this harness fits all 1986-1991 Vanagon waterboxer engines, including 2WD and 4WD models like your 1988 Westfalia Camper, regardless of whether you have a manual or automatic transmission.

What makes this harness better than the original wiring?

This harness comes with all new electrical connectors and a new brown wire designed to replace your Vanagon’s older, brittle wiring that often fails due to age and heat. Its heavy-duty sealed plug offers a more reliable connection to keep your oil pressure warning system working properly.

Do I get the oil pressure switch included when I buy this harness?

No, this product is the oil pressure switch harness only. The actual oil pressure switches are sold separately. This harness simply ensures a solid electrical connection between the switch and your warning system.

Is it difficult to install the new harness myself?

Installation is straightforward and affordable. The harness is designed as a direct replacement, so it swaps right in where your old wiring was. If you’re comfortable with basic wiring and connectors, you should be able to install it yourself without special tools.

How will installing this harness help my Vanagon?

Replacing your aging or damaged oil pressure switch harness restores reliable function to your oil pressure warning system. This means you’ll get accurate alerts if your engine oil pressure drops, helping to avoid potential engine damage and giving you peace of mind while driving your Vanagon.
