What does a push rod do in my Vanagon engine and when should I replace it?

Push rods are a crucial part of your Vanagon's valve train, transferring the motion from the camshaft to the rocker arms, which then open the valves. You'll likely need to replace a push rod if it's bent or damaged, often discovered during engine diagnostics or when performing a rebuild. These genuine VW parts ensure proper fit and function for your 1.9 or 2.1 watercooled engine.

Can I buy just one push rod, or do I have to get a set?

We understand you might only need a single replacement. That's why we offer these genuine VW push rods individually, as well as in convenient 4-packs. You can choose the exact quantity you need by using the drop-down menu above.

What's the difference between 'New' and 'Used' push rods?

Our 'New' push rods are brand-new, direct from Volkswagen, ensuring the highest quality and performance. The 'Used' push rods have been carefully cleaned, thoroughly inspected, and are guaranteed to be in like-new condition. Both options are genuine VW parts and will get your Vanagon running smoothly.

Which Vanagon models and years will these push rods fit?

These genuine Volkswagen push rods are specifically designed for the 1.9L and 2.1L watercooled engines found in Vanagon models from 1983 to 1991. They are compatible with both 2WD and 4WD, as well as automatic and manual transmission vehicles.

I'm doing a bigger engine job. Do you have other necessary parts?

Absolutely! We specialize in Vanagon parts and have a wide selection to help you complete your engine project. After you've added these push rods to your cart, be sure to browse our other engine mechanical parts, including gaskets, seals, and more, to ensure you have everything you need.
