This Shifter Switch Wiper (part # 171-927-145A) is designed specifically for Vanagon automatic transmissions from 1980-1991. Its main job is to ensure your vehicle's neutral safety feature functions correctly. This means it helps ensure your Vanagon will only start when it's safely in Park or Neutral.

I’m replacing my shifter switch, do I need any other parts to make this work correctly?

Yes, for the complete neutral safety system, you'll also need the contact portion. It works in conjunction with this shifter switch wiper. We offer a bundle that includes both parts for a better value, ensuring you have everything necessary for proper installation and function.
