This GoWesty, all-metal coolant junction is a direct replacement for the original plastic 025-121-438B coolant junction. It is made out of black anodized 4mm thick aluminum and features an additional mounting bolt for extra support. It is simply bomber, and will be the last coolant junction you will ever have to buy for your Vanagon!

Fits: All 1986-91 watercooled 2WD Vanagon. Will NOT fit 4WD Syncro.

Backstory: Volkswagen made three different iterations of coolant junctions for the 2WD, and ultimately came up with their final version whose part number ends in -438B. It required a superior coolant hose (part number 251-121-130B) to go with it. We modeled our coolant junction after the -438B because it and the -130B hose that fits it are simply superior to the earlier versions. It was after all VW’s last configuration for good reason!

• If your Vanagon has a coolant junction with the hose located at this -438(B) location: You already have the better 251-121-130B hose (good time to replace it!).

• If your van has a coolant junction with the hose located at this -438(A) location, you will also need to buy a 251-025-130B (see photo showing the difference).

• If your van has an automatic transmission that still has the obsolete ATF cooler bolted to the front with two coolant hoses running to it, you will also need one of our external ATF cooler which is highly recommended no matter what, read this article to learn why.

This coolant junction features an extra mounting stud for increased support. Download the included template to help with the drilling process. Utilize a 1/4" drill bit.
