Starter Relay Kit for Circuit 50 Load Reduction. Get your starter cranking!
Fits: All Bus & Vanagon with original Bosh type starter*
Note: This relay kit works with any starter on any Bus or Vanagon, and comes standard on the Gowesty 003-911-023E starters for automatic transmission.
Frustrated by the “click but no crank” issue with your Bus or Vanagon? This common problem stems from the aging “CRANK” signal (circuit 50) that runs from the ignition switch all the way back to the starter, leading to increased resistance resulting in low voltage and…silence. The extra wiring in vans with automatic transmission makes things even worse, and the original Bosch starter design also contributes to the problem. Read this article!
Our Starter Relay Kit is a 21st-century remake of the old Bosch “WR1 Hard Start” kit. It functions in the same way to reduce the electrical burden on the ignition switch and the entire vehicle wiring system by delivering full power straight to the starter via a relay mounted right on the starter. But that is where the similarities end.
Unlike the generic open-to-the-elements horn relay and the “what goes where?” wiring the old Bosch kit had to offer, the GoWesty Starter Relay Kit employs a state of the art relay and plug that are both fully sealed against moisture and corrosion, as well as a purpose-made harness with wires of the correct length, gauge and color—complete with a fully sealed plug for the “crank already!” to replace the ancient spade terminal on your original wiring. Reliable cranking every time.
Is installation easy? Installation is straightforward with complete instructions and color-coded wiring for a clean and professional setup.
Yeah, GoWesty’s got your crank.
