The rubber bump stops on your Vanagon are there to cushion the front suspension when you hit a bump in the road big enough to use up the available wheel travel. Even the tamest Vanagon drivers give their front bump stops a fair amount of abuse, and the rowdier among us subject them to brutal loading. Over the years, the rubber material of which the original bump stops are made deteriorates and requires replacement. We set out to reproduce these bump stops—albeit in a slightly smarter way.

The original bump stop was available in two lengths: one standard and one shorter for lowered vehicles. Our bump stop is designed for either application. If you own a factory-lowered model such as a Carat or MV Weekender, we designed ours to be easily cut to match the length of your shorter bump stops.

GoWesty bump stops are crafted out of a custom durometer polyurethane, which better handles the clobbering these things take. And unlike other aftermarket bump stops on the market, the embedded steel washer is an exact copy of the original VW washer, which is critical for proper function in all Vanagon models, especially Syncro—where they are subjected to considerably higher side-loading.

GoWesty bump stops mount in exactly the same manner as the original bump stops, handle the clobbering even better than the original, and allow you to reuse your original dust shield.
