Will this differential pan gasket fit my 1985 Vanagon with a 3-speed automatic transmission?

Yes! This gasket is designed to fit all 1974-1991 Type 2 Buses and Vanagons with 3-speed automatic differential pans, including your 1985 Vanagon.

What are the differences between the cork gasket and the OEM VW Reinz AFM 31 material option?

The cork gasket is a quality USA-made aftermarket option and offers good sealing, while the OEM VW Reinz AFM 31 material is the original equipment specification recommended by GoWesty for optimal fit and durability.

Do I need anything else besides this gasket when servicing my differential and changing gear oil?

While this gasket fits the differential pan, you’ll need a separate filter kit if you plan to replace the differential filter during service. The gasket itself is for sealing the pan when you drain and change the gear oil.

Is this gasket suitable for 2WD models like the Westfalia Camper or Wolfsburg Weekender?

Absolutely! This gasket is compatible with all listed 2WD models, including 7-Passenger, Campmobile, Carat/Hard Top Weekender, Multivan, Passenger, Westfalia Camper, Westfalia Weekender MV, and Wolfsburg Weekender.

How confident can I be about the gasket's sealing performance and fit?

Many customers highly rate this gasket for its excellent fit and reliable sealing performance. GoWesty stands behind the part’s quality, helping you avoid leaks and ensure a smooth differential service.
