Which GoWesty Pop-Top Lift Kits are compatible with this replacement gas strut?

This specific replacement gas strut is designed ONLY for the GoWesty Pop-Top Lift Assist kit and the Pop-Top Lift Assist (Basic Kit) for Vanagons. It's a direct replacement part for those specific systems.

What's the difference between the 40-pound and 100-pound gas struts, and how do I know which one I need for my Pop-Top?

The main difference is the lifting strength. The 40-pound strut is designed for lighter setups, like a standard pop-top canvas without many accessories. The 100-pound strut offers more lifting power, ideal if you have a heavier pop-top canvas, added features like solar panels on the roof, or a particularly robust lift assist kit. If you're unsure, consider the weight of your pop-top setup. For most standard setups, the 40-pound strut is sufficient, but if your pop-top feels heavy to lift or you have significant additions, the 100-pound option will provide better assistance.

Are these GoWesty gas struts direct replacements for my existing lift assist struts, or will I need special tools or modifications?

Yes, these gas struts are designed as direct replacements for GoWesty's Pop-Top Lift Assist kits for both the Bus and Vanagon models. You shouldn't need any special tools or modifications. Installation typically involves unscrewing the old struts and bolting on the new ones in their place. Just ensure you're purchasing the correct strength strut for your existing GoWesty lift assist system.

How many gas struts do I get with this purchase, and will one be enough to lift my pop-top?

This listing is for a single gas strut. Our lift assist kits typically use two struts, one on each side, to evenly distribute the load and provide balanced lifting. Therefore, you will likely need to purchase two of these struts to effectively operate your pop-top lift assist system. This ensures proper function and support for your pop-top.
