Will this driver side Mirror flop around on the highway?

We understand that mirror flop can be a real problem on the highway. That's why this manual side-view mirror for your Vanagon includes a Floppy Mirror Fix Kit. When installed correctly, this kit is designed to help keep your mirror securely in position, even in blustery conditions.

What's included with the Manual Side-View Mirror, and what do I need to buy separately?

This kit includes the manually adjustable driver side mirror and the Floppy Mirror Fix Kit. However, please note that the mounting screws and gasket are sold separately. It's recommended to have these on hand before installation.

I received the mirror, but the base seems rotated. Is this the wrong Mirror?

No, it's likely not the wrong mirror! The base is often rotated for packaging. Please rotate the mounting base so it's in the vertical position, as shown in the product photo, to ensure it mounts correctly on your Vanagon. The mirror is designed to be oriented vertically on the vehicle.

What's the best way to install this Mirror to prevent flop?

For the best installation and to minimize mirror flop, use a 10mm socket and a 3/8 drive ratchet to tighten the nut at the mirror’s base. Ensure the nut is torqued down properly and the spring below it is compressed tightly into the assembly. This compression is crucial for keeping the mirror steady.

This manually adjustable, left-hand/driver side mirror is a low-cost aftermarket version with flat glass. To assist with the dreaded mirror-flop syndrome, we include a Floppy Mirror Fix Kit that can be quickly installed to help keep the mirror in position out on the blustery highway.

Note: mounting screws and gasket sold separately.

Cosmetic Note: These mirrors arrive from our supplier with minor scuffs and imperfections on the housings. Now you know!

These mirrors are packaged in such a way that the base is rotated to a position that makes it appear that the incorrect mirror has been shipped. If you feel the mirror you received is for the incorrect side, please take a moment to rotate the mounting base, and try it on your van. The mirror is supposed to mount on the vehicle in the vertical position as shown in the photo above.

INSTALLATION NOTE: Please use a 10mm socket and a 3/8 drive ratchet to tighten the nut at the base of the mirror. The nut must be torqued down—the spring below it must compress tightly into the assembly to help ensure the least amount of flop possible!
