Will this A/C Receiver/Drier fit my late-model Vanagon (1987-1991)?

Yes, this A/C Receiver/Drier is designed specifically for late Vanagon models from 1987 to 1991. It fits all Vanagon configurations during these years, including 2WD and 4WD (Syncro), all trim levels, and both automatic and manual transmissions. If you have a Vanagon from this range, this part will be a direct fit for your vehicle's air conditioning system.

Do I need to replace the receiver/drier when installing a new A/C compressor or converting to R134a refrigerant?

Absolutely. Industry best practice recommends always replacing the receiver/drier whenever the A/C system is opened, such as when installing a new compressor or converting your system to R134a refrigerant. The receiver/drier removes moisture and contaminants, protecting your new compressor and ensuring the system functions properly. Skipping this replacement can lead to poor cooling performance and possible damage to your A/C components.

How does this GoWesty receiver/drier compare to the original Vanagon part, and is installation straightforward?

This aftermarket receiver/drier from GoWesty is engineered to meet or exceed the specifications of the original Vanagon part. It offers reliable performance and fitment identical to OEM, ensuring efficient moisture and debris removal from your A/C system. Installation is straightforward and can be handled by DIYers comfortable with basic A/C service, or by any automotive technician. Be sure to properly evacuate the system and replace all sealing O-rings during installation for best results.
