Will this left front step pad fit my specific Vanagon model and year?

Yes! This step pad is designed to fit all 1980-1991 Vanagon models, whether you have 2WD or 4WD, any trim level, and either automatic or manual transmission. It’s a guaranteed fit for the driver’s (left) side front step.

I noticed the rubber and traction pattern might vary—will the step pad still match my other side or look noticeably different?

Because our replacement step pads can come from various manufacturers, there may be some slight differences in rubber feel or traction pattern. However, each pad is guaranteed to fit and function perfectly. If you'd like a matching look on both sides, we recommend purchasing the right-side pad from us as well, as both are sold separately and are designed to closely resemble each other.

Is it easy to install this step pad myself, or do I need special tools?

Installing this step pad on your Vanagon is a straightforward process and most customers find it easy to do themselves. No special tools are required—just remove the old pad and firmly press the new one into place. This is a quick update that can refresh your Vanagon’s entryway in just minutes!
