How many heater box bearing plates do I need for my vehicle?

You will need two bearing plates per vehicle to properly hold your heater box flaps in place.

Do I need to buy different plates for the left and right sides?

No. While the original plates were side-specific, GoWesty has designed this version to fit on either side of the vents.

Which Vanagon years are compatible with this Heater box bearing plate?

This part is designed to work with Vanagons from 1980 through 1991.

Why should I buy these instead of trying to reuse my original plates?

Original plates often become brittle and inevitably break during removal. These are essential replacements for your heater box tuneup to ensure your flaps are held securely.
