Will this 'Middle Side Window Seal - Passenger Side (w/o Groove)' fit my Vanagon's sliding door?

This passenger side window seal is specifically designed for '85-'91 Vanagon models with the later style sliding door. The key indicator is the shorter door handle, which measures 5.75 inches from the center of the keyhole to its end. It's crucial to measure your handle to ensure compatibility, as this seal is made to fit that particular handle length and does not work with the older, longer handle.

I see there are USA-made and German options for this seal. What's the difference?

Both the USA-made and German options for this passenger side window seal are high-quality reproductions designed to fit your Vanagon. The main difference is the country of origin. Functionally, they should perform similarly in sealing your window. Many customers choose based on preference or historical availability, but rest assured, both are excellent choices for replacing your old, worn-out Vanagon seal.

My Vanagon has chrome molding around the sliding door window. Will this seal work, or do I need the one with a groove?

This specific 'Middle Side Window Seal' is designed for Vanagons that do NOT have the chrome molding around the sliding door window, as it does not include the groove for it. If your sliding door window has chrome trim, you will need a different seal that accommodates that molding. This version is for a cleaner, groove-less look.

Is installing this window seal difficult? Any tips for making it easier?

Professional installation is highly recommended for this window seal, as it can be a bit tricky. However, if you plan to tackle it yourself, the best tip is to work in warm conditions! Aim for 80 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer. Install the seal onto the glass first, then use the provided rope to work it into the frame. Warming the seal with a heat gun or letting it sit in direct sunlight after installation can help it set properly and make the process smoother.
