My Vanagon has a power steering leak. Will this reseal kit fix it, or do I need a whole new steering rack?

This Vanagon power steering reseal kit is designed to address the most common leak points on the power steering rack. It includes 25 essential components specifically for resealing, not a complete rebuild. If your leak is specifically from the common seal areas, this kit is an excellent, cost-effective solution. However, if the rack itself is damaged internally, you might need a complete unit. We also offer brand-new racks for those situations.

I saw this is a 'reseal' kit, not a 'rebuild' kit. What's the difference for my Vanagon steering?

Great question! A 'reseal' kit, like this one, focuses on replacing the primary seals where power steering fluid commonly leaks out of the rack. It doesn't include every single internal component that might be worn. While this kit provides the essential parts for common leaks and is a fantastic value, a full 'rebuild' would involve replacing more internal parts. We chose to offer this high-quality reseal kit because sourcing a complete rebuild kit is very difficult, making this the best option for most Vanagon steering leak repairs.

Are there any instructions included with this Vanagon power steering rack reseal kit?

This specific power steering rack reseal kit does not come with installation instructions. Repairing a power steering rack can be complex and requires specialized knowledge and tools. Because of this, we highly recommend professional installation by a qualified mechanic. Having a workshop repair manual for your Vanagon is also a crucial tool for anyone attempting this type of repair.

Can I install this Vanagon steering rack seals kit myself, or do I need a mechanic?

While some DIYers might tackle this, we strongly recommend professional installation for this Vanagon power steering rack reseal kit. The process involves precise adjustments and specialized tools to ensure the steering system functions correctly and safely. Without the proper expertise, it's easy to make mistakes that could lead to further damage or unsafe driving conditions. A professional mechanic will have the knowledge and equipment to correctly replace your steering rack seals.
