Will this Rod Bolt pack fit my specific Vanagon model?

This set is designed to fit 1983-1991 Vanagons, including 2WD, 4WD, Passenger, Multivan, and Westfalia Camper models with either manual or automatic transmissions.

How many bolts come in a pack and are they reusable?

Each pack contains 8 rod bolts, which is the exact amount required for one engine. These are reusable, non-stretch type bolts manufactured by the original OEM Volkswagen supplier.

What is the correct torque specification for these bolts?

The rod bolts should be torqued to 33 ft-lbs.

Can I install these bolts myself or do I need a professional?

Professional installation is highly recommended. Changing these bolts requires a machine shop to rebuild the large end completely, including resizing the bore and refacing the sides to ensure the cap and rod align and the bearing bore is perfectly round. Additionally, the knurled sections of the bolt may need to be re-sized to fit properly.
