GoWesty Rebuilt Engine Warranty

STANDARD LIMITED WARRANTY - 48 Months & 48,000 Miles

Labor Rate & Parts Coverage: If there is any problem with your engine upon installation, GoWesty will work directly with the installer to diagnose and remedy the problem fairly, and at no cost to you. If warranty service is required after installation, the labor rate GoWesty will pay is limited to $75/hour. GoWesty will provide replacements for failed parts at retail price. Both labor and parts coverage are based on a pro-rata determination. The remaining warranty is calculated using the greater of either time or miles since the purchase date. The total number of months elapsed or miles driven will be divided by 48 (months) or 48,000 (miles), respectively, to determine the amount of the warranty that has been used.* Subject to compliance with GoWesty Warranty Information & Requirements found below.

*For example, if failure occurs at 18 months, during which time the vehicle was driven 32,000 miles, mileage, not time, will be used for the calculation. At 32,000 miles, the warranty coverage "exhausted" is 32,000/48,000, or 2/3rds of the original coverage; thus, the warranty will cover only 1/3 of the repair. So, in the context of the above example: If a $100 part fails and takes one hour to replace, your GoWesty warranty will cover 1/3rd the cost of the $100 part and 1/3rd of one $75 warranty hour, which equals roughly $58.30 of the total warranty repair cost.

OPTIONAL "ROAD WARRIOR" WARRANTY UPGRADE (Additional $500)

Labor Rate & Parts Coverage: If there is any problem with your engine upon installation, GoWesty will work directly with the installer to diagnose and remedy the problem fairly, and at no cost to you. If warranty service is required after installation, GoWesty will pay 100% of the shop labor rate (limited to $150/hour) and will provide replacements for failed parts at no charge for the duration of the warranty, four (4) years or forty-eight thousand (48,000) miles, whichever comes first, from date of purchase.  Subject to compliance with GoWesty Warranty Information & Requirements found below.

GOWESTY REBUILT ENGINE
WARRANTY INFORMATION & REQUIREMENTS

Thank you for purchasing a GoWesty rebuilt engine. We build our engines to provide many years and miles of reliable service, and we stand behind our workmanship. If there is any problem with your engine upon installation, GoWesty will work directly with the installer to diagnose and remedy the problem fairly, and at no cost to you.  After installation, the following warranty applies only when all warranty requirements outlined below are met.

OUR WARRANTY AT A GLANCE

Your GoWesty rebuilt engine is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for:

48 months from the date of purchase OR 48,000 miles, whichever comes first.

To maintain warranty coverage, you must:

  • Return the completed Warranty Registration Card within twenty (20) business days of engine installation.

  • Have the engine's initial settings, coolant fill and bleed, and initial startup performed by a licensed automotive repair facility when the engine is not installed by a licensed repair facility.

  • Have the first inspection and oil change performed between 900 and 1,100 miles after installation by a professional automotive repair facility.

  • Change the oil and filter every 3,500 miles thereafter.

  • Follow our Break-In Guidelines for Waterboxer Engines

  • Maintain documentation and invoices for all required service.

  • Keep the vehicle's odometer in proper working order.

  • Follow all installation and maintenance requirements outlined in this warranty.

Failure to meet these requirements may void your warranty.

1. WARRANTY REGISTRATION

The Warranty Registration Card included with your engine must be completed and returned to GoWesty within 20 business days of the engine installation date.

Failure to register your engine within this time period will void the warranty.

2. OIL & FILTER SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

Proper oil service is essential to maintaining warranty coverage.

The first oil and filter change must be performed between 900 and 1,100 miles after installation.

After that, the oil and filter must be changed every 3,500 miles.

It is the responsibility of the vehicle owner to maintain documentation of all required oil changes and provide that documentation if a warranty claim is made.

3. INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

For warranty coverage, the engine must be installed and properly commissioned by a licensed automotive repair facility. If the engine is installed by the vehicle owner, a friend, or another non-professional installer, the warranty will remain valid only if all of the following are performed by a licensed automotive repair facility:

  • Baseline engine settings

  • Initial coolant fill and cooling-system bleed

  • Initial engine startup

  • First inspection and oil change between 900 and 1,100 miles

The warranty holder must retain invoices documenting this work and provide copies to GoWesty if requested as part of a warranty claim. Invoices must include contact information for the repair facility that performed the work.

4. WHAT IS COVERED

The engine is warranted to be free, under normal use, from defects in materials and workmanship for 48 months from the date of purchase or 48,000 miles, whichever comes first.

If GoWesty determines, after inspection, that a covered defect exists, the warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the defective engine or applicable components and the labor specifically provided for under this warranty.

5. COMPONENT-SPECIFIC COVERAGE

Certain components carry warranty periods shorter than the overall engine warranty:

Seals & Gaskets: Covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Water Pump: Covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.*

*Why do we not cover the water pump? Please read this article

Important: Labor required to replace the water pump is not covered by this warranty, regardless of the reason for replacement.

6. WHAT IS NOT COVERED

This warranty does not cover engine failure or damage resulting from improper installation, improper adjustment, misuse, or conditions outside of GoWesty's control.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Improper installation

  • Overheating

  • Incorrect ignition or engine timing

  • Insufficient oil

  • Contaminated oil

  • Use of oil additives

  • Abuse or improper use

  • Improper adjustment of engine or vehicle accessories

  • Missing or non-stock accessories that, in GoWesty's determination, are necessary for proper engine performance or reliability

Overheating:

Damage resulting from overheating is not covered by this warranty. Overheating can result from improper installation, cooling-system condition, incorrect ignition timing, and/or incorrect adjustment or operation of components and accessories outside of GoWesty's control. GoWesty engines are equipped with overheat-indicating melt-tabs designed to indicate that an engine has experienced an overheating event. If an engine has been overheated, resulting damage is not covered by this warranty.

Carbureted Vehicles:

GoWesty engine warranty coverage does not apply to vehicles that have had the fuel injection system removed and replaced by carburetors.

7. COOLING SYSTEM REQUIREMENT

When installing a new GoWesty engine, we strongly recommend replacing the vehicle's entire cooling system. You may choose not to replace the cooling system. However, if an engine failure occurs as a result of overheating, the warranty will be void. Please read this article: Cooling System Overhaul Article

8. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR THE GOWESTY 2700cc ENGINE

The GoWesty 2700cc engine requires the purchase and installation of the GoWesty Engine Management System (GW-EFI). The GW-EFI system includes important knock-sensor functionality that is required for proper operation and protection of the 2700cc engine.

Failure to purchase and install the GW-EFI system with a GoWesty 2.7 engine will void the engine warranty.

9. FILING A WARRANTY CLAIM

If you believe your engine has experienced a warranty-related problem, do not disassemble the engine before contacting GoWesty. The warranty is void if the engine is disassembled without prior written authorization by GoWesty. The engine or affected component may need to be inspected by GoWesty before warranty coverage can be determined.

File a Warranty Claim

GoWesty will determine whether the issue is covered under the terms of this warranty after inspection.

10. WARRANTY REPAIR LABOR

If GoWesty authorizes another licensed repair facility to perform warranty repairs, the number of labor hours authorized by GoWesty will be determined using the Mitchell Guide. The repair facility or technician does not determine the number of warranty labor hours independently.

GoWesty's warranty labor authorization is limited to the labor hours determined by the applicable Mitchell Guide procedure.

11. ADDITIONAL COSTS

GoWesty's warranty obligations are limited to replacement of covered parts and authorized labor as provided under this warranty.

GoWesty does not assume responsibility for:

  • Towing charges

  • Loss of oil or coolant

  • Vehicle downtime

  • Time lost while the vehicle is out of service

  • Other incidental expenses

Any shipping costs associated with warranty parts or repairs are the responsibility of the customer unless agreed to in writing by GoWesty.

12. WARRANTY LIMITATIONS

This warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of an engine or components that GoWesty determines, after inspection, to be defective in materials or workmanship. The remedies provided under this warranty are in place of all other obligations, warranties, or guarantees, express or implied, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
