This oil pressure switch was used on all Vanagons from 1983-1991. Its pressure ranges are .15-.35 BAR. It is located on the engine, driver's side, between the intake push rod tubes for cylinders 3 and 4 (left side of engine looking in from the rear). This switch is NORMALLY CLOSED, and OPENS between .15 and .35 BAR, which translates to 2-5 PSI.
It is the ONLY switch on 83-85 models, one of two on '86-'91 models.
Need 24 mm deep socket. Just take off the cover and the torque spec is like 22 ft-lbs.
I was hoping replacing this sensor would magically reveal that my low oil pressure problem was a non-problem, but it did not. But at least I know I've got a proper alarm and can move on to the next step of trouble shooting. This sensor is also much easier to install/remove than the chunky plastic brown one that was installed originally.
Easy and cheap enough to know your oil buzzer is at least getting the right readings.
easy install
This one fixed the problem and it was not expensive
