Will this clutch disc fit my Volkswagen Bus or Vanagon?

This GoWesty clutch disc fits 1976-79 Type II Buses and 1980-91 Vanagon 2WD and 4WD models (excluding diesel). Double-check your vehicle year and transmission type to ensure compatibility before ordering.

What’s the difference between the standard Sachs clutch disc and the heavy-duty Kennedy disc?

The standard Sachs disc is ideal for everyday driving and stock engines, providing smooth engagement and reliable performance. The heavy-duty Kennedy 'Phase Two' disc offers greater pedal force and enhanced durability, making it perfect for off-road use or high-output engines. Choose based on how and where you drive your Vanagon or Bus.

Is the heavy-duty clutch disc a direct replacement, or do I need other parts for proper fitment?

The heavy-duty Kennedy disc fits best when paired with the GoWesty flywheel and flywheel bolts. While it can replace the original disc, upgrading these associated parts will ensure the best fit and performance, especially in demanding applications.

How do I decide which clutch disc is right for my Bus or Vanagon?

For typical street driving, road trips, and stock engine setups, the standard Sachs disc is recommended. Opt for the heavy-duty Kennedy disc if you do a lot of off-roading, tow heavy loads, or have a modified engine that produces more power. Matching your disc selection to your driving style ensures optimal clutch performance and longevity.

Are these clutch discs available as part of a complete clutch kit?

Yes, GoWesty offers both the standard and heavy-duty discs as part of complete clutch kits, which include the pressure plate, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing. Choosing a kit simplifies installation and ensures you replace all critical wear parts at once.
