How many bulbs do I need for my automatic shifter and fog light switch on my 1980-1991 Vanagon?

For your automatic transmission shifter illumination, you'll need two (2) bulbs and two (2) 437-919-039 sockets. If you're also looking to illuminate your fog light switch, you'll require one (1) additional bulb and one (1) 141-957-397A socket. This covers the most common applications for these small indicator lights.

Will this headlight switch bulb work in my 1980-1991 Vanagon, and do I need a new socket?

Yes, this bulb is designed for the headlight switch in your 1980-1991 Vanagon, regardless of whether it's a 2WD or 4WD model, or a specific trim like a Campmobile or Westfalia. You typically don't need an extra socket for the headlight switch itself. However, please note that the factory wiring harness might not always have the necessary provision for the bulb, so some minor wiring checks may be needed.

I have a manual transmission Vanagon. Can I still use this bulb for my lights?

This specific bulb is primarily used for illuminating the automatic transmission shifter, the fog light switch, and the headlight switch. While the bulb itself is a standard replacement part, its main application isn't directly tied to manual transmission indicators. If you're looking to replace a burnt-out bulb in your fog light switch or headlight switch, this bulb will work perfectly for those applications in your 1980-1991 Vanagon.

Are these bulbs difficult to install in my Vanagon, and do they come with everything I need?

The installation difficulty can vary, but generally, replacing these bulbs is a straightforward process for most Vanagon owners. For the automatic shifter and fog light switch, remember you'll need the correct sockets (sold separately for these specific applications) along with the bulbs. The headlight switch typically uses the existing socket. It's always a good idea to consult your Vanagon's service manual or a trusted online resource for specific instructions related to your model year to ensure a smooth installation of your new bulb.
