Will this left side short rocker panel fit my specific Vanagon model and year?

Yes, this Body Panel - Left Side Panel (Short) [Vanagon] is designed to fit all Volkswagen Vanagon models from 1980 to 1991, regardless of drivetrain or trim level. If your Vanagon falls within those years, this panel will be compatible. Please double-check your vehicle year before ordering to ensure a smooth replacement.

What does the ‘short’ version mean, and how much of my Vanagon’s side will it cover?

The 'short' version of this left side panel means it does not run the full length between the wheel wells. Instead, it measures approximately 60 inches long by 18 inches tall and 4 inches deep. It's perfect for repairing partial rust or damage without replacing the entire lower rocker, which can save you time and money if only a section of your Vanagon needs restoration.

Will this panel come ready to paint and install, and what should I expect regarding finish and condition?

This Body Panel is offered in bare metal or basic primer. Minor imperfections or scratches may be present, which is typical for aftermarket sheet metal—just give it a quick scuff and check for fit, then minor prep work might be needed before painting. We recommend test-fitting the panel first and performing any finish work as needed for a seamless look on your Vanagon.

How do I install this panel, and do I need any special tools or experience?

Installing these body panels typically involves welding, so some metalworking experience is recommended. If you’re not familiar with automotive bodywork, we suggest consulting a trusted body shop for the cleanest results. For the DIY crowd, match the new panel to your Vanagon’s existing lines, trim as needed, and weld or attach accordingly. Be sure to treat any bare metal with rust preventative before painting for long-term durability.

Is this replacement panel strong and trustworthy, and what if there’s a problem after I get it?

Our customers have consistently given this aftermarket left side panel great reviews for fitment and quality. GoWesty stands behind every part we sell—if you have issues on delivery (such as shipping damage or fitment concerns), reach out right away and we’ll help solve it. This panel is a popular choice for trustworthy Vanagon restoration, helping improve your undefined’s appearance and resale value when installed properly.
