Will this Left Side Radiator Coolant Hose fit my 1986 Vanagon Camper with 4WD and manual transmission?

Yes, this Left Side Radiator Coolant Hose is designed to fit 1986–1991 Volkswagen Vanagon models, including Campers, with either 2WD or Syncro (4WD). It works for both manual and automatic transmissions. To ensure the perfect fit, confirm your van’s production year, drive type, and that your existing pipe diameter matches the OEM specifications listed on this product.

How is this aftermarket coolant hose different from the original VW part? Will it last?

GoWesty sources high-quality aftermarket coolant hoses manufactured to strict standards, often exceeding the durability of older OE parts. The materials are selected for superior heat and pressure resistance specific to Vanagon cooling systems. Many Vanagon owners choose aftermarket hoses like this for reliability, easier availability, and great value. Regular inspection and proper installation will help your hose last for many years of trouble-free use.

Is installation of this coolant hose straightforward? What should I prepare for?

Installation is generally DIY-friendly with standard hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, and sockets). Expect to drain coolant and reuse or replace hose clamps as needed. No modifications are necessary for compatible 1986–1991 Vanagons. Always double-check that your vehicle matches the listed specifications before starting. If you’re new to cooling system work, reviewing a Vanagon repair manual or enlisting the help of a friend will make the process smoother and boost your confidence.
