Why is this GoWesty exhaust gasket better than other aftermarket ones?

We developed this gasket because we were tired of common high-temperature exhaust gaskets failing too soon, leading to annoying leaks and potential emissions issues. Our custom, steel-reinforced graphite gasket is manufactured in the USA using the highest quality materials for superior durability and long-lasting performance.

Will this specific gasket fit my 1985 Vanagon's exhaust system?

Yes, this GoWesty exhaust gasket is designed to fit the catalytic converter flanges that connect to the J-pipe, as well as the muffler on 1975-91 Bus and Vanagon models. It's compatible with both 2WD and 4WD vehicles, and various engine and transmission configurations.

How many of these gaskets do I need for my vehicle?

You will need one gasket per flange. This product is sold individually, so please ensure you order the correct quantity for all the flanges you need to seal.

I see mention of a sealing donut. When should I use that instead of this gasket?

Sometimes, the connection between the catalytic converter and the J-pipe specifically requires a sealing donut rather than a flat gasket. We recommend carefully inspecting your vehicle's exhaust system before ordering to confirm if this gasket is the correct part for that particular junction, or if a donut is needed.

Self-certified made in USA of U.S. and imported parts

Not all gaskets are created equal! We got tired of commonly available high-temperature exhaust gaskets failing prematurely, causing annoying exhaust leaks that could cause a failed emissions test. The quality of the aftermarket gaskets we were receiving continued to decline, so we rolled up our sleeves and made our own. Our new custom, steel-reinforced graphite* gaskets are manufactured here in the good old USA of the highest quality materials for the longest lasting performance possible.

Fits: 1975-91 Bus & Vanagon catalytic converter flanges that mate to the J-pipe, and the muffler. One required per flange. Sold individually. Please note: Sometimes the connection between the catalytic converter and the J-pipe requires a sealing donut, not this gasket. Please inspect your vehicle's exhaust system prior to ordering.
