Will this stainless muffler saddle fit my 1986-91 Vanagon, regardless of model or transmission?

Yes, this Muffler Saddle (Stainless) by GoWesty is designed to fit all 1986-91 Vanagon models, including Westfalia Camper, Multivan, Weekender, Wolfsburg, and others. It works with both 2WD and 4WD Vanagons, and fits vehicles with either manual or automatic transmissions.

Do I need to buy one or two muffler saddles for my Vanagon?

These muffler saddles are sold individually, and you will need two per Vanagon (one for each side of the muffler). Be sure to add two to your cart to complete the installation.

Is the mounting hardware included with the muffler saddle?

No, the clamp hardware (bolts, washers, and nuts) needed to mount the muffler saddle is not included. You will need 2x M8x50 bolts, 4x 8mm x 16mm flat washers, and 2x 8mm nuts per saddle. This hardware must be purchased separately.

How difficult is it to install the GoWesty stainless muffler saddle on my Vanagon?

Installation is straightforward for most do-it-yourselfers with basic tools. Simply position the saddle over the muffler and secure it using the correct bolts, washers, and nuts (not included). Detailed installation instructions can be found in your Vanagon service manual or by contacting GoWesty’s technical support.

Will this muffler saddle fit both OEM and GoWesty aftermarket stainless mufflers?

Yes, this stainless muffler saddle is designed to fit both the original (OEM) muffler and GoWesty’s own aftermarket stainless mufflers on all 1986-91 Vanagon submodels. Just select the correct option for your muffler and drivetrain (2WD or 4WD) when ordering.
