When replacing your flywheel (manual transmission) or flexplate (automatic transmission), it is highly recommended that the five bolts securing it to the crankshaft are replaced.
This internal-hex bolt and locking compound kit is a direct replacement for all flywheels and flexplates originally fitted with internal-hex bolts (N-902-268-01). It also replaces the external bolt and lock plate system originally used on '76 and later air-cooled engines. If you have this other system, please discard the metal locking plate, use the locking compound and torque the bolts to 81 ft-lbs (110Nm).
