My Vanagon is a [Year], will this rear Stub Axle fit?

This quality aftermarket stub axle is designed to fit all 1971-1979 Type 2 Buses and all 1980-1991 Vanagon 2WD models, including Syncro. If your vehicle falls within these year ranges, this part should be compatible.

How many of these rear Stub Axles do I need to buy?

You'll need two rear stub axles per vehicle, as this part is sold individually. It's a good idea to replace them in pairs to ensure consistent performance and wear.

I'm replacing my CV joints. Is this the correct Stub Axle to use with the original size CVs?

Yes, this is the quality aftermarket rear stub axle specifically made for the original size CV joints. If you need stub axles for the larger 930 CV joints, please check out our separate listing.

I just got a new stub axle and new bearings. Why are the bearings so hard to press onto the new stub axle?

It's normal for new bearings to be a tight fit – sometimes called a slight interference fit – on a new stub axle. It's not designed to be a loose or slip-fit. While your old stub axle might have been worn enough for bearings to slide on easily, you may need to use some force or even gently heat the bearing (following proper procedures) to get it seated correctly on a new stub axle.
