Why does the Automatic Transaxle Fluid Bundle for my Vanagon include two different types of Red Line fluid?

This bundle is specifically designed to give your Vanagon automatic transaxle exactly what it needs for a complete refill after a drain. It includes two quarts of Red Line MT-90 gear oil, which is recommended for the transaxle's internal gears, and six quarts of Red Line Synthetic D4 ATF. This combination ensures optimal lubrication and performance for all parts of your automatic transmission system.

Is this Automatic Transaxle Fluid Bundle compatible with my 1985 Vanagon Westfalia camper?

Yes, absolutely! The Automatic Transaxle Fluid Bundle is compatible with all Vanagon models from 1980 to 1991, including 2WD variants and popular camper models like the Westfalia. You'll get the correct Red Line fluids and quantities to properly service your automatic transaxle.

How much fluid do I actually need to refill my Vanagon's automatic transaxle after draining it completely?

This bundle provides a total of eight quarts (2 quarts of MT-90 and 6 quarts of D4 ATF), which is the amount typically needed to completely refill a drained Vanagon automatic transaxle. It’s always a good idea to check your vehicle’s specific service manual for precise quantities, but this bundle ensures you have more than enough of the correct, high-quality Red Line fluids for the job.

Can I use this GoWesty bundle for a manual transmission Vanagon, or is it strictly for automatic ones?

This bundle is specifically curated for the **automatic** transaxle in your Vanagon. It contains Red Line MT-90 gear oil and Red Line Synthetic D4 ATF, which are the recommended fluids for the automatic transmission. If you have a manual transmission Vanagon, you would need a different fluid specific to that gearbox.
