Will this Sliding Window Felt Channel fit my 1980-91 Vanagon, and how many pieces do I need per window?

Yes, our Sliding Window Felt Channel is designed to fit all 1980-91 Vanagon models with sliding windows. Each window requires one length of felt per sliding section, but many customers choose to replace both the inner and outer channels for the best seal and operation. Be sure to check your van’s configuration—generally, one piece per sliding section is standard.

How hard is the installation, and do I need any special adhesive or tools for the Sliding Window Felt Channel?

Most customers find installation straightforward with basic hand tools—just remove the old felt channel, clean the frame thoroughly, and press the new piece into place. Some folks recommend using a weatherstrip adhesive for an extra-secure fit, especially if your original channel was glued. Check our install guide linked on the product page for step-by-step details, and don’t hesitate to reach out to GoWesty customer service if you need tips along the way!

Are there any differences between this Sliding Window Felt Channel and the original VW part, and what if I’m not satisfied with the fit?

Our Sliding Window Felt Channel is an aftermarket part crafted to match the function of the original. Some customers note it’s slightly snugger or thicker compared to stock, which can lead to a tighter glide—but many also report improved window sealing and reduced rattles. If you run into any fitment issues or are not completely satisfied, GoWesty stands behind our products—just contact our customer service for a return or refund. Your satisfaction is our priority!
