This flywheel seal installation tool is an affordable version of the Volkswagen tool VW191 with a very important added feature: it doubles as a drill guide to safely drill an additional oil-return hole in your engine block.

If you are getting ready for a new flywheel (rear main) seal this is the tool to push you in the right direction. This handy piece of kit attaches to the crankshaft with the original flywheel bolts to make sure your new seal is perfectly centered. The cup also ensures the seal is pressed to the right depth so that your flywheel does not destroy a brand-new seal.

After building some 3000+ water boxers, we know from experience the oil return galleys VW cast into the block halves are just barely large enough and can easily get clogged causing the seals to leak or, worse yet: completely blow out. The drill guide feature on this took makes it easy and safe to add an additional oil return hole—which is something we do to all the engines we build.

Works with:
• All Volkswagen Type 4 engines and all waterboxer. Does NOT work with diesel.
• 1972-79 Type II Bus
• 1980-91 Vanagon
• 1969-76 VW 411/412, Porsche 914/4
