Why is it important to replace the original hard fuel line on my 2WD Vanagon with this kit?

The original plastic hard fuel line on Vanagons is a known weak point and can become brittle and crack over time due to age and exposure, leading to fuel leaks. This kit proactively replaces that aging line with a more robust solution, preventing potential leaks and ensuring your fuel system remains reliable. It also upgrades critical components like firewall grommets and fittings.

Will this fuel hard line replacement kit fit my 2WD Vanagon, regardless of its year or body style?

Yes, this kit is specifically designed for all 1980-1991 2WD Vanagon models. It is compatible with all body styles, including Westfalia Campers, Weekenders, Multivans, and Passenger variants, and works with both automatic and manual transmissions. Please note, this kit is not intended for 4WD Syncro models.

What components are included in the GoWesty Fuel Hard Line Replacement Kit, and what tools are needed for installation?

The kit includes the new, more durable hard plastic fuel line, necessary adapter fittings for a secure connection to your existing soft fuel lines, and upgraded firewall grommets for both feed and return lines. Standard automotive tools are generally sufficient for installation. While some mechanical aptitude is helpful, many customers perform this replacement themselves. GoWesty also offers installation services.

How does this kit enhance the original fuel line setup and address common failure points?

This kit significantly improves upon the original design by replacing the original plastic fuel line, which can crack, with a more durable alternative. It also upgrades the degraded firewall grommets and, most importantly, eliminates the common failure point of the plastic fuel firewall fitting. The included adapter fittings ensure a reliable connection between the hard and soft fuel lines, preventing leaks and ensuring safe fuel delivery.
