Will this steering column bushing fit my 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon?

Yes, this bushing is designed to fit all Volkswagen Vanagon models from 1980 through 1991, so it will fit your 1987 Vanagon perfectly.

How difficult is it to install this bushing? Do I need special tools?

Installation is quite straightforward if you're comfortable working under the dash with the steering wheel removed. No special tools are required — just standard hand tools should do the job.

Will replacing this bushing fix steering wheel play or just noise issues?

This bushing specifically fixes 'play' in the steering column (meaning wobble or looseness), but not rotational play of the wheel. It also eliminates common squeaks or noises caused by worn bushings.

Should I choose the genuine Volkswagen (OE) or the quality aftermarket (AM) version?

Both versions fit the same and function similarly. Genuine VW parts offer OEM assurance, while the aftermarket version is a reliable and cost-effective alternative. Customer feedback is positive for both options.

What material is this bushing made from, and will it last?

The bushing is made from durable black plastic designed to withstand steering column stresses. Many customers report long-lasting performance and improved steering feel after installation.
