Will this Radiator Fan Resistor (450W) from GoWesty fit my Vanagon?

This resistor fits all Vanagons from 1980 to 1991 that came with factory air conditioning and a 450W radiator fan. If your van meets those specs, this part is a direct replacement and should work perfectly. Check your fan's wattage or refer to your van’s documentation to be sure.

Is the installation really plug-and-play? Do I need to splice any wires?

Yes, GoWesty's Radiator Fan Resistor (450W) features an OEM-style, plug-and-play design. There's absolutely no splicing required – just unplug your old resistor, connect this one, and you’re good to go. Many Vanagon owners love how easy it is to install, often taking just a few minutes.

How do I know if this is the right fix for my van’s radiator fan problems?

If your radiator fan isn’t coming on at low speed, it’s often due to a failed resistor. If you have a 1980–1991 Vanagon with factory air conditioning and a 450W fan, replacing the fan resistor is a great first step. Customers report this fixes unreliable cooling fans and restores proper operation.

What sets GoWesty’s resistor apart from other options?

GoWesty’s radiator fan resistor stands out with its quality aftermarket construction, OEM-style plug-and-play fit, and high customer satisfaction. There are 100% 5-star reviews from real Vanagon owners noting the perfect fit and super-easy installation – no splicing or modifications needed.

Are there any tips for installing the GoWesty Radiator Fan Resistor and ensuring it lasts?

Installation is straightforward, but make sure the engine is cool and the battery disconnected for safety. Double-check the wattage (450W) of your fan. Users suggest mounting the resistor securely and inspecting your radiator fan wiring for corrosion. GoWesty’s resistor is reliable, but clean connections will help it work trouble-free for years. If you ever need more help, GoWesty’s customer support is highly rated, too.
