Will this Spoiler Hardware Kit fit my 1986 Vanagon with a steel bumper?

This kit is designed for 1988-91 Vanagons with plastic or fiberglass bumpers. It's not recommended for 1980-87 steel bumpers unless you're comfortable drilling new holes and using sheet metal screws, which might be more complicated. So for a 1986 with steel bumper, this kit probably isn’t the best fit.

What’s included in the Spoiler Hardware Kit from GoWesty?

The kit provides all the necessary mounting hardware to attach a spoiler air dam to the front bumper of 1988-91 Vanagons with plastic or fiberglass bumpers. This includes brackets, screws, and fittings specifically matched for these bumpers to make installation straightforward.

Can I install this kit myself, or do I need a professional?

If you're handy with basic tools, this kit is designed for straightforward installation using common tools. GoWesty provides the hardware needed, and since it fits the plastic/fiberglass bumpers directly, it doesn’t require complex modifications. Just follow any included instructions or seek advice if you’re uncertain.

Will this Spoiler Hardware Kit work on all Vanagon trims, like Westfalia Campers or Carat editions?

Yes! This kit is compatible with 1988-91 Vanagons featuring plastic or fiberglass bumpers across various trims—including 2WD and 4WD models, Westfalia Campers, and Carat trims—as long as the bumper matches the plastic or fiberglass style.

Do I need to modify my Vanagon’s bumper to install this spoiler kit?

For 1988-91 Vanagons with plastic or fiberglass bumpers, no major modifications are needed—the hardware kit is made to fit these bumpers as-is. Just use the included mounting components. However, if your bumper is from before 1988 and made of steel, modifications like drilling would be necessary, but that’s not recommended with this kit.
