Will this Axle Hardware Bundle fit my VW Bus or Vanagon, and is there a difference between 2WD and Syncro models?

This Axle Hardware Bundle is specifically designed for classic VW Buses (from 1971-1979) and 2WD Vanagons (1980-1991). If you own a Syncro (4WD Vanagon), please select the Syncro option when purchasing, as the hardware differs slightly to accommodate the Syncro's unique axle and CV joint setup. Always double-check your vehicle's year and drive type to ensure you're ordering the bundle that fits your specific VW.

What exactly is included in the Axle Hardware Bundle, and will it be enough to replace all critical fasteners for both axles?

The Axle Hardware Bundle includes all the necessary bolts, washers, and serrated lock washers needed for both axles on your VW Bus or Vanagon. This means you receive enough high-quality, OEM-style hardware to fully replace the fasteners at all CV joint connections—front and rear—on both the left and right sides. This kit eliminates the guesswork and hassle of tracking down individual pieces, ensuring you have the correct, complete set needed for a thorough and safe axle install.

Are there any tips for installing the Axle Hardware Bundle to ensure a secure and hassle-free axle installation?

When installing your new axle hardware, always clean the CV joint flange surfaces and torque the bolts to the factory specifications, following a star pattern to achieve even pressure. Use the included serrated lock washers to prevent loosening over time—a common issue on classic Buses and Vanagons. We highly recommend double-checking that you're using the proper hardware for your drive type (2WD vs. Syncro) to achieve the best fit and reliability. If you're restoring an older VW that’s seen years of use, this fresh hardware bundle is a smart choice for safety and peace of mind.
