Why do I need a new oil drain plug washer for my Vanagon?

Over time, the original oil drain plug washer can become compressed or damaged, leading to potential oil leaks. Replacing this crush washer with a fresh one during each oil change ensures a proper seal, preventing those annoying drips and keeping your Vanagon's engine oil where it belongs.

What kind of washer is this for my Vanagon oil drain plug?

This is an aluminum crush washer specifically designed for the oil drain plug on 1980-1991 Vanagon models. The aluminum material is designed to crush and form a tight seal when the drain plug is tightened, providing excellent leak prevention.

Do I need to replace this aluminum washer every time I change the oil on my Vanagon?

Yes, it's highly recommended to replace the oil drain plug washer with a new one every oil change. These are crush washers, meaning they are designed to deform slightly to create a seal. Reusing an old one can compromise that seal and potentially lead to leaks.

How many washers come with this product?

This oil drain plug washer is sold individually. You'll receive one high-quality aluminum crush washer per purchase, which is exactly what you need for a single oil change on your Vanagon.
