Is this Cam & Crank Position Sensor compatible with my Vanagon?

This sensor is designed specifically for 1986-1991 Vanagon models outfitted with the GoWesty Electronic Fuel Injection (GW-EFI) kit. It’s not compatible with the original Volkswagen system, so be sure you have the GW-EFI installed before ordering. For GoWesty EFI users, it’s the perfect fit!

Do I need to carry a spare Camshaft or Crank sensor for my GW-EFI, or does this part cover both?

You only need one of these sensors on hand, as it works as both the camshaft and crank position sensor in the GW-EFI system. Carrying a spare is a smart move, especially if you’re traveling, since it simplifies roadside repairs and gives you peace of mind that you won’t be stranded if a sensor fails.

Why should I keep a spare Cam & Crank Position Sensor in my Vanagon?

Carrying this GW-EFI cam and crank position sensor as a backup is an easy way to prevent travel delays and unexpected breakdowns. If you ever experience issues with your sensor on the road, swapping in this quality aftermarket part can quickly get you back up and running, without searching for hard-to-find parts or waiting for a tow. It’s a simple preventative step for hassle-free adventures.
